    I agree Jon. By relay transformer I just mean a separate small transformer 120vac to about 14-18vdc when rectified. Yes why use more current than need be... I will look into if those relays will fit the boards I've custom made, that's another aspect I have to see about. Also 2 of the relays are switch plate and screen voltage so they have to have a good contact current rating.

    Enzo let me know how your test will show me if it's doable.

      You want to know if the bias winding can supply that current. Use Ohm's Law to calculate what resistance you;'d need at whatever voltage comes out of that winding. They apply that resistance - don't forget to calculate the wattage for your test part - and see if the winding voltage sags a lot. It won;t burn out the winding in a couple seconds of test.

      Switching B+ voltages? Relay contact current ratings may not be the concern here, I doubt you are switching an amp of 500v. But the voltage rating is a concern. Small relays have a vey small gap between open contacts, and when they part, an arc can easily strike and burn the relay into slag. Pretty blue-green flame though.
