  • Add an xlr input/preamp to Peavey 500bh

Howdy! I have been doing live sound and recorded music since 1982 or so and have been collecting peavey gear to do it with since I started. I have a peavey 500bh (out of a 210 combo amp I think) that I would like to add an XLR preamp section to. Right now I run high z inputs through a peavey EQ31 and then to the input section (really a volume knob with two inputs). (Imagine a home made rack section in front with the 500bh in back) Does anyone know how I could scratch build a low z preamp so I can add a mic input?

    Thanks,

The thing accepts a line level input, so any preamp circuit that produces a line level output would work, including some little commercial units. Reasearch mic preamp circuits.

I always liked the look of this one: http://sound.westhost.com/project66.htm

I think it's the same as what you'll find inside most compact mixers.
"Enzo, I see that you replied parasitic oscillations. Is that a hypothesis? Or is that your amazing metal band I should check out?"
