  • Fender OT and PT for high gain amp?

I would like to design a high gain amp running 2 6L6's (in the vein of Mesa). Do you think it would be OK to use one of the Heyboer Fender 50 watt replacement OT's and the matching PT for this? I know it would "work" since the Fender runs on 2 6L6's and the PT is rated with enough mA to handle the 4 preamp tubes I'll be using and the 6L6's, but are there any forseeable problems with the tone (mushy, harsh, etc)? Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

Well, Mesa's first amps all used iron from hacked-up Fenders, so I'd say it would work fine.
"Enzo, I see that you replied parasitic oscillations. Is that a hypothesis? Or is that your amazing metal band I should check out?"
