  • Critique my idea please

I have an idea for a effects loop and i want to see what you think. It may have been done but i never saw one like this so either i just missed it or my idea is flawed. So please let me know what you think. This would not be a series but rather a parallel loop. And i already see one problem but i think i can live with it. The amp is similar to a marshall 2204. I'm thinking about taking the signal after the last gain stage, so it would be i guess treble pot output. Then using a pot to blend it into the unused side of the PI. The problem i forsee is that with a master after the tone stack, turning up the amp would cause the effects to be lessened. thats ok with me tho because i al\ways set and forget the master and when i DO need to adjust it i could also adjust the effects easily enough.

So my questions are, will this work, and if so how would i insert it into the PI? In other words, with NFB is it even possible and if so how?

Taking the inverting input out of the negative feedback loop will increase the gain of the power amp by approx. 6dB, which may or may not be a problem.
Far more significant is that as you'd be going into an inverting input, the effects will be out of phase with the original signal, and unless bizzare sweeping phase cancellation effects are your thing, it may sound duff.
