Should I expect hum from TDA7294 power amp?

Meanwhile, grounding the input kills the hum? Connect a CD player to it or something, does that also kill the hum?

You have an unterminated input. Ever notice that just about every guitar amp has a shorting jack at the input? Unplug from the jack and it shorts the input. Your input is acting like an antenna.

      Do it!

I can see why chassis are normally rectangular- it is not easy to fit stuff in a round tin

Say, Steve - I did laugh - not derisory, but in appreciation. I REALLY like your kettle amp.

Enzo, 32 oz peanuts? Home cooked. Virginia. You're just teasing me. I'm always looking to get more peanuts in my diet. Peanuts and cheese. Anyone with a peanut allergy can pass them on to me.

Oooh, they are good peanuts, too.

                Quick update:

All hum and buzz now resolved. Not sure exactly what cured it.
I reflowed solder joints, moved the main board earth bond closer to the board.
I added a 2.2r resistor and a 1000uF cap to my smoothing chain.
I added a .1uf RF filter cap across the ac power switch.

thanks everyone for your helpful comments and advice.

played my 12ax7 pre-amp through it. It’s flipping loud!

                cheers
