    Sometimes 100mV input signal is a bit hot, depending on the amp. 50mV is probably a better generic setting that will not cause distortion issues.

        OK, looks like you guys were right (and I was wrong :-)). Reducing the input level did the trick. I suspect it is the cathode bypass caps in the rev chanel that make that behavior different than the norm channel.

          I ran simulations of either channel with a 100mV input signal (gains on 10 and tones on 5) and they were matched close enough to make any difference insignificant.

            With the volume pots wide open and a 100mV input the output would be well into clipping so I'm not sure what your point is.

              I'm late getting back to this by a couple of years but I happened to see it while browsing around. So... I can't recall the circumstances now but I know my usual MO. I would have measured preamp output for either channel configuration. This suitably answers as to whether or not the channels should have different volumes or if one distorts early. Which was the question we were asked about.
