  • 1969 Plush 1060 head!!

So a friend calls and says he picked up an amp off the side of the road... He knows I'm into tube amps so he wants to give it to me. I go pick it up and its this beast of an amp called a Plush...never heard of the brand... knob layout like a fender bassman.... a bit of googling tells me it's showmanesque. RAD! its got a quad set of the original blackplate RCA's... RAD! It's not werking though..blows fuses...should be a fairly easy fix.... I hope. Probably keep this one, coz from wot I can gather they are as rare as hens teeth....

    Anyone had experience with Plushness?

    Suggested mods?

    cheers!

I just remember that they were a lot like tube Kustom amps of the era. They were even tuck-n-roll upulstered like a Kustom. Very loud, clean, and very Fenderish.

The Plush amp line were all Fender knock-offs. Frankly, they were built pretty shoddy, at least by the standards of those days.

Yep, I remember them well! There was also Earth, which was a knockoff of Plush, if you can wrap your head around that.

I owned and Earth and a friend had a Plush, about 20 years ago. The Plush seemed extremely loud and clean at the time. The Earth looked like a tweed Fender and was ss/tube hybrid and didn't sound so good.

Plush and Earth were the same company weren't they? Seems like I read about that somewhere. The Earth tuck/roll amps were pretty cool. A local guy around here has a 100w head.....gets regular use....sounds good really. Been trying to get him to come off it for years......no dice.

IIRC, Plush got sued, closed shop, opened Earth. Or something to that effect.

I refurbished a Plush head earlier this year. It was actually built fairly well, certainly better than most production amps today. The circuit was very Fender-esque and sounded pretty dang good when it was done.
