  • Green/Yellow wire on '55 Deluxe

    Hey,

I'm looking at an old '55 deluxe that has a cloth green/yellow wire coming off the PT floating in air. Normally, I'd guess this to be the heater center tap, but these old amps connect one heater wire to the filament and the other to ground (thus not needing a CT). There's no reference to the green/yellow wire on the layout diagram. The amp works with the thing disconnected.

    Any ideas?

    thanks,

    BK

Tape it off or shrink tube it.
If the sockets are wired the old way, one lead is already at chassis ground so you don't need it.

And if you are just dying to find out what it was for anyway, simple continuity checks will tell you what it is associated with if not the heaters. Or set the meter to AC volts and see if it has about 3 volts on it - that would mean it was indeed the heater CT you don't need.

THEN tape it off and forget it.

        Thanks.

It was a photo emailed to me, otherwise I would have measured it.
