  • Help! My Reverberocket has no reverb

I have an Ampeg Reverberocket 2 GS-12R that sounds great, but the reverb doesn't work. I've heard the reverb on these amps is really nice, so I'd like to get it working. The amp has all new tubes (I put a NOS 6U10 in there), but still no reverb. I've checked the footswitch with a meter and it's working, and the pins that go to the reverb tank are good. I'm thinking it must be one of the components in the reverb circuit, or the tank itself.

I'm fairly new to the amp repair thing, but I've worked on my Silvertone 1472 with good success. Has anyone heard of common reverb problems in the GS-12R? Cheers!

Those tanks do have a reputation for failing. I know that for a long time there was no replacement for them. I think there is now but I don't know where to find it or the specs. To see if the tank is bad just take AC readings (with an input signal and the amp set up as if the reverb were operating) at the tank input and the recovery tube output. If you have AC at the input but not the output it's probably the tank. Actually this will only tell you if the problem is with the tank OR the recovery stage. But the AC at the output of the tank may be too small to get a good read so...

You can probably find the tank with a little searching.
