If you ever open your speaker cab, please take pictures of how your wiring to each speaker and the speaker Ohm rating. The second thing is Identify the info from your Output transformer. That would be helpful on something that I'm working on, Thanks

Time to raise this fine thread from the dead!

      Almost done re-capping this.
      Waiting on a few 0.047uf's and a new can cap 50uf x 2 500v.
Sounds so damn good...making a matching cab for it with 2x10's 1966 rebuild alnico Fender speakers.

Also have the uber rare Stage King arriving soon with original guitar cable, foot switch, and cover

          Ouch man, that sucks!
These are pretty rare amps so they should be somewhat easy to locate.
Put out a heads up to pawn shops and scour CL etc for postings.
          Keep us posted.

Side note, I made a 2x10 matching cab for my head...found an emblem so it looks somewhat legit

I came across this today and wonder who started this Blog. The repair and service section is very well written and they are attempting to collect some of the rare info out there from the very few of us that are left. Great idea, maybe a positive write-up to be posted finally. Cool.

Also I got my amplifiers back thanks to Nick. May his career take off and flower, really cool young man, and I see much success in his future.

I was given an Elk 2x12 cab before I went off to the navy. A neighbor was getting ready to throw it out. I just discovered it again sitting in my parents game room. Never tested it out, no clue if the speakers are any good. All I have is a crate vintage club 50 tube amp but it does not have speaker out.

Edit: Here is a pic. Excuse the laundry basket... haha

Nice speakers only, that is a find. How wide is it, and is there a small badge in the bottom right corner? you should post the measurements and you can test the speakers with a 9 volt battery, the speaker cones should move and you should hear the sound as you connect it to the speaker connections. that is the fastest way to check it. Where are you located? I know its not for sale, correct?

It would have been awesome if he was throwing out the amp as well! I will take some measurements tomorrow after I get off work. I'll also have to make a quick stop somewhere to get a 9v battery. Haha. This cab is missing the badge at the bottom right. I noticed that in the other pics I have seen. Perhaps it came off at some point. The input jack and the plate around it also has a bit of rust. I'm in Texas. Not very close. :\ At the moment I don't have use for the cab since I won't be getting a new amp anytime soon.

I was in Dallas last week or actually Garland, repairing a industrial compressor. Have to go back at the end of the month when the parts arrive. I'll keep this in mind and let me know what you're asking for that cabinet. Too much traveling. have to head for Tacoma next week. Its either a cabinet for a Custom 30, 45 or twin Amp 50.

Sounds good. I'm not sure how much I'd sell it, but like I said I don't really have much use for it at the moment, so feel free to shoot me an offer you think is fair. I'm in san antonio by the way.

Thats cool, however you have to look at that listing of amps that I posted to get the sizes from to see which model it actually is. Meaning your gonna have to measure the exterior cabinet, inspect the speakers for the correct size and ohm rating. Plug in a speaker cable and place the 9 volt across the connector and it should confirm if the speakers are alive or dead, but you will have to watch the cones to see if they both actually move. You will have to open the back cover to inspect for tears on the cone itself, plus look at what is inked on each speaker for the rating or measure resistance with a multimeter.

(The custom amp 30's are smaller than the Custom amp 45 or 50.)
(measurements in mm displayed as B: under each model on flyer, plus weight also needed for estimated shipping cost via USA mail or UPS)
(Its is not a 60 because the Elk badge for that model is in the wrong place.)
(compare the measurements listed between the three different models, you do not have to know japanese to find that data)

Plus you still have to inspect the speakers to make sure they work or not and last but not least.

Are the two metal mounting brackets still screwed on the top of this cabinet on either side of the center handle?

Ok, so based on the measurements this is the EB-202 50w cab. Took the back off, speakers say 8 ohms. Also did a test with a 9v battery, cones moved in and out, so the speakers are working. There are no tears in the cones. The handle has both screws, its pretty stable.

Pretty cool this thing works but too bad I don't have a head to try it out with. Ah well.

Very nice! congratulations now you have a cabinet worth keeping. Any head will make those speakers ring. If you do decide to sell it and you have come up with a price, let me know, the true retail value is in the hands of the owner and what he is willing to part with it for. I'm going to be on the road for the next two weeks so I'll follow this post, or you can email me at Team_street_performance@yahoo.com Stay dry down there with all those storms rolling thru..

Perhaps I will hang on to it. It may come in handy soon. If I buy a head at least I wouldn't have to worry about a cab. But I will let you know if I decide to sell. The storms are gone but we are getting some pretty strong winds! The breeze is nice though.
