  • Ace-Tone Rocky

    Hey all!

Just got this amp in for some repairs........ just wanted to know if someone knew anything on this unit before I make a schematic

    Edit; made a schematic here

Only thing that bothers me is the heaters of the preamp tubes......

Also, the reverb tank was missing. There are the leftovers of 2 wires that could be connected to a tank. Shame.......

If you want pics just ask!

Found a reverb tank in something that looked like a piece of wood. Added the wires and the reverb didn't work. But you saw that weird heater add-up in the preamp? Rewired the heaters for T2 and voila, I have reverb.

Fixed the tremolo by replacing the caps; guess all caps are done. Will replace em tomorrow!

    Made a new schematic. Enjoy

      Still have your Rocky?
I have a chance to get one...12 watts or something like that I assume?
      Cheers for the schematic!

It almost looks like an AC15 set up too
          Using the original speaker still?
I can buy it for $40 plus shipping...i think I will jump on it!

Ah OK...did you swap it for a Webber etc or?
How do you find the reverb and tremolo on it?
              Hope they are rich sounding

They are nice; the tremolo is nice choppy but really usefull. The reverb was a tad cold but nice! Speaker not swapped (yet)

It doesn't get smooth at a lower speed rate?
                  I LOVE Tremolo...big time
I suspect all the Japanese amps I have acquired recently will not cap swaps as the tremolo does not seem to work in any of them
A common issue it seems but they are old as well.
You swapped the tubes already yeah?
                  Cheers

It gets smooth at lower rates; nice warm and warbly tight!

Tube swap not yet...... they were in pretty decent condition

I think if you bought some JJ's or GT's and tossed them in there that amp would come alive!
                      a $50 investment!
Make a video of the amp, good for reference

I had a acetone solid state one time that someone gave to me, it was one of the best sounding solid state amps I have ever played, in my opinion it rivaled some of the old Roland's
