Just got the unit back again because of a microphonic tube.........

Owner told me the volume when the unit is set to 0 is really 'gritty'....... I just noticed that when I turn the unit to 0 I still have volume / still hear what I play. I first thought it was a faulty volume pot or a faulty reverb potmeter.......... but with both removed I still have that same volume........ Even when I disconnect the whole set before the second tube I still have that sound.

When I remove the second tube the volume is gone......... any idea on where I can search / look? Is it a common problem?

The signal does not respond to the tone controls or reverb controls

If I disconnect C10 the signal is gone

My thought was that it is Tube T1B but why does it pickup up the signal even when the grid is not connected?

EDIT: I think it mainly is due to R13 / R14; it lifts the grid of the tube even when the volume is set to 0

Just redid all the caps in mine finally and added a grounded plug etc...no more death cap.
I didn't notice what the fuse is used for this and I cannot seem to locate it on the schematic.
      Is it a 2A?

      Cheers!

No idea; the original schematic had no value written on it. It is there to fuse the mains...........

I would guess a 2A would be sufficient

I will pick some up today and see what happens.
Side note...can you tell me what voltage that 40uf x 2 can is?
          Is it 450v or 500?
I am at work and going to replace that last one for safety and tone sake.
Cheers for all the help mate

Rewiring the Ace Tone and omitted the ground switch and death cap but I am blowing fuses.
It has a 100v and a 117v fuse switch in parallel but I have omitted the 100v, blew fuses, included the 100v, blew more fuses lol.

Here is how it is right now (orange is 117v, white 100v):

The thin white coiled wire on the left was direct to the switch where the new white is now and the other thicker one next to it was connected in parallel to the 2 upper fuse posts where the black now resides.
The two whites go to the ground switch and aux plug in.

Do you happen to have a pic of your wiring so I can mimic it or is mine like yours?

The first one is 500V, the latter 350V

Sorry; no pics (and the unit is not here anymore)
