  • ampeg vt-40 vol. problem

Hey guys, I need some help. I just bought a 1974? ampeg vt-40 "front panel" today and it should be 40 ear blistering watts but its not. With the vol. all the way up its about 2 watts. Its all original. Do you thinks its power tubes failure causing this. What else could it be? Everything else works.

Which jack do you have the speakers plugged into?

Should be putting out 60 watts, in reality. I've got a B-25B on the bench putting out 68 Wrms with 2 7027's in it.

Are all your tubes lighting up, what's your B+ voltage?
