  • Different Traynor Guitarmate YGM4

    So I went to check out this amp for sale. Not all that exciting cosmetically, but functional. BUT it had one of those itty bitty reverb tanks screwed to the bottom of the chassis. Between that and the funny power cord and a loose screw on the back made me think it might have been subjected to something I might not be interested in at the price. I passed.

    Ever seen a tank like that on an old Traynor? Not me.

    I see them now and then, but don;t recall where. But it shouldn;t be any trouble at all to replace it with a full size pan.

      traynor ygm-4 reverb tank

      That little tank is an Accutronics 4fb2b1b.
      I happen to like the sound of the "long" tanks better, but this one is not too bad, and fits in a lot tighter spots than the bigger tank.
      Build yourself a 6g15 stand alone reverb if you want the real thing, and you can plug it in front of any amp you have.

      On a related, but different subject;
      Has anyone had trouble with the tremolo intensity pot on a YGM-4?
      I have one on the bench that had the resistive track on that pot almost completely worn off, making the trem unusable, and messing with the bias.
      Would the dc on the pot from the bias wiggle trem help make the pot fail early, or is it just a defective part?

      Thanks, Jon

        Seems more like someone twiddled that pot a lot. It doesn't care about the style of volts. Just replace it and worry about something important like the ratass layout on the Traynors.

        I was really only interested in knowing of the little tank was stock in that amp. I passed on it anyway for other reasons so it's not important anyway.

        Thanks
