  • 1967 Ampeg Gemini VI replacement tubes

Hello everyone. I am going to purchase this amp from a friend. Unfortunatly my knowledge of tube amps is limited. I pulled one of the ORIGINAL power tubes (6CG7). It has 8 pins. For antiquity sake, i want to put the originals in a box and replace them. However, i cannot find any 8 pin power tubes. PLEASE HELP.

    Thanks in advance.

    6cg7

A 6CG7 is a dual triode preamp type. Maybe it was in the wrong position?

Sorry about that. All I know is that the power tubes are 8 pins. Are there comprable tubes out there that have 8 pins that I can replace them with? Thank you.

Read the codes on every tube. Write them down and post 'em here. Perhaps the tubes aren't even original now, although they could be. If it were me, I'd just play the amp with the tubes it has, and buy some new spares.

Some of those Ampegs have a tube charts / schematics stapled inside ... many models in the Gemini series had 7591As in them ... I think that's what you're looking for. Any paperwork inside the cabinet? CJ
