  • Output transformer Music Man 2575 150W specs?

Hello all. Anyone know the primary impedance of the Music Man output transformer for the 2575 chassis (150W)? Transformer number is 200-130. I measured it and came up with 2k. That sounds too low to me. Thanks!!

My music man hd65 used some strange hybrid design and a 6600:4&8 output tf with ridiculously high plate voltages and 6ca7's. I would suspect a music man with 4 output tubes would have between 2k and 3k3 impedances plate to plate.

Have you measured it with an ac voltage?

The EL34 was designed to run at those elevated plate voltages.

I'm sorry if I implied that the high voltages were bad- I just recall them being high compared to the average marshall or fender circuit and being driven (if I recall correctly) from the cathodes or something instead of the normal grid drive. I had the version with the solid state phase inverter.

I think it's interesting to note that music man used a 6k6 impedance like many hifi applications while other brands used much lower impedances. I suppose this was the ideal given the high plate but moderate screen voltages the output tubes were running at.
