I keep looking for a 502 but these thinsg aren't exactly thick on the ground. I only have the 501 because I swapped it for a motorbike!

Well, I'll see how it goes when I finally get to gig the thing. At the moment I reckon it's the best sounding amp I have. I also have a Selmer T&B 50 which is lovely and I used to own a Hiwatt Custom 100 but this thing is wild.

Hi Guys, just been reading your thread, and notice that perhaps the ecc81 could be in the wrong position. Anyway, the three ecc's that go front to back, well the centre one should be an ecc81 all the rest including the ones going side to side are ecc83's, cheers.

          ecc81 is the driver

Sean, I can confirm that, but only for the "twin channel" Burmans.

The amp which Will has is the 501, which does not have the clean channel, so there are only six pre-amp tubes and I believe all those tubes are in one line near the front.

On the Schematic that I linked to, which is for the twin channel version, the numbering of the tubes does not correspond to the actual physical layout. When I look from above onto all the twin channel versions, with respect to that schematic, the pre-amp tubes are:

          .............................V6
          .............................V7
          V4...V5...V3......V2...V1

So they are exactly as you point out: the V7 middle one of those three tubes is the ecc81 driver.

Of course, forgetting the 501 is single channel and that makes sense ( need to go check out my pro4000 see if all's as it should be now).

            Cheers, Sean.
