  • 1952 Gibsonette Power Transformer

I recently overhauled a 52 Gibsonette and am really happy with its sound.
While working on it I noted that its power transformer says it is meant to operate on 25 cycle AC, not 60 as we have now.
Although it has been in steady use all its life, will this difference cause a problem or should I just keep it as it is?

    25 Hz power

This amp must have been made in or for Ontario.
At 60 Hz your transformer should run cooler & more efficiently.
    Worry not.

Well that is good news. I live in Ontario and the guy I bought it from does too. I just remember, when I was a babe in arms and Ontario switched from 25 to 60, I got a brand new electric train transformer. So I got thinking after seeing that in the amp.
