  • Can anyone id this amp here? My first post here, too!

Hi all! Seems like a nice little forum here. This is an amp a buddy of mine found and has given to me. I have no idea what it is but it sounds really nice. No name marked anywhere...and no spots where it looks like anything may have been rubbed off either. If anybody has nay ideas please pop up.

    Thanks!

I used to have one of those.... it reminds me of an old Gibson EH150 type amp.
They were obscure but kind of popular as a small 10w-12w portable PA in the 40s.
Sometimes referred to as a "Carnival Barker's PA"... used with a hand held mic... you know the those traveling Carny guys your grandma warned you about! http://www.jamieford.com/storage/carny.jpg

Maybe that's a bit before most of you kids...

Anyhow, mine originally had a white and black furry grille cloth, painted and tinted to look like a untanned cow hide, hairy side out!!

Slide the chassis out and see if there is any wax dripped into the bottom from a hot transformer.
I assume you're gonna blow harp through it?

I'll do that. No harp. I wish I knew how to play. I may just run my tele through it.
