Thanks, That's what I'll do. BTW what is the deal with the high voltage (B+?) being so high? Is it okay like that? Will the new OT cause it to come down a little? Could it/should it be adjusted by changing the resistors linking the filter caps? (I'm just trying to learn)
    Thanks again

Measure your wall voltage...what is it measuring at?

I wouldn't do it via a resistor unless you wanna introduce some sag.

124v! should I do anything about it, or is it okay to go ahead and let the b+ be 518v?

Nothing wrong with 518v, see what you end up with with the new OT installed and tubes biased to 30mA each. Which PT is it 607233, 125P7A, 125P7D? I have seen up to 525vdc with the latter. Check your heaters aren't over 7VAC.

+1 on NOT using a resistor to drop B+, you bought a brown tolex 6L6 amp, they run around 500vdc, that's what they do.

This is the new OT. Fender Output Transformer, Bandmaster, Pro, Vibrolux, Tremolux, Vibroverb, 4/8/16 Ohm Heaters are 6.8v
Thanks so much for all the help and advice, guys.

WOOHOOO! it works. I know fixing amps is probably a little boring to you guys that do it all day, but this has been, by far, the biggest amp project I have worked on.
I just turned it on for a minute, and played a few licks. When I get time I'll recheck bias, put it back in the cab, and give it a good work out.
Thanks again for all the schooling you all have been so generously providing me.
              Dan

Okay this is my final post on this amp (unless something changes) It's all back together, and sounds great! Much louder and cleaner than it was with the old (Ampeg) OT. All the controlls are quiet, tremolo works great, minimal hum with single coils. Just a great sounding old amp.

                Thanks, Dan

Very cool! What are your voltages measuring now?

Well, from memory, B+ was at 515v, current through the OT shunt was .029A. It sounds so much better than before. Since I don't know about vintage Fenders, I didn't realise it had the wrong OT when I got it. It had pretty extreme distortion starting at about 5 on the volume control, and wasn't very loud. (this is before I ruined the OT completely) And just didn't sound good. Now it sounds great, and is plenty loud.
