I picked up a 1973 (transformer dates) Fender Bassman 100 with a matching cabinet over the weekend. The cabinet is very deep with four 12" speakers in an inverted pyramid configuration.
It seems to be in good shape electronically, but is a little road worn so I plan on doing some cosmetic restoration. I noticed that the head has the older style Fender emblem with the bar underneath but the cabinet has the emblem without the bar. Both emblems appear to have been on forever and do not appear to have been changed. Which would be the correct emblem for 1973?
I restored my 1972 Super Reverb and it came with the emblem with the bar underneath and I have a 1975 Vibro Champ with the emblem without the bar, so I am assuming that the change was made somewhere in that time frame. Or is it possible that Fender did what they always did and just used what they had on hand at the time?
