  • Old output transformer.

    Hi Folks
I wonder if anyone out there can help me ID an output transformer.
I have a customer who has a really nice toned old Marshall 2144 combo which is pretty much stock except for the output tranny which has been replaced at some time in the dim and distant past.

He has recently gotten hold of another amp, same model but tone wise they are like chalk and cheese both sound nice but quite different the new one is like a 'lite' version of the old, so all things being equal I'm guessing that a lot of the differences are due to the replaced tranny.

Its an old Schumacher according to the EIA code.
I e-mailed Schumacher but they were unable to identifiy it so as a last resort I was hoping someone out there might recognise it.
    The markings on it are:
    5-75
    XXXX
    EIA 606-849

Its about the same size as the original Marshall but only has one secondary.
If anyone has seen one before or can point me in a direction for further info I'd be most grateful.

I did manage to tweek his new one to sound close by boosting the mids a bit but I'd love to get the old o/p trannie cloned or at least have an idea what the specs are on it.
    Cheers
    Shane

It is possible that some information could be dredged up from here, perhaps some of the catalogs have cross reference pages. It is a good place for some general consciousness raising if nothing else. I looked in my Thordarson Meissner catalog here and I did not see any cross reference to Schumacher-my guess someone in the distant past scrounged your Schumacher from some other piece of gear.
