New thread for this, as the other one got messy. Fixer project from ebay.

Some caps done in here, nothing spewing its guts.

So far so good but here is problems, guess I'm missing a reverb tank so the transformer and leads for it are snipped off. Just ebayed a small reverb tank that was laying about a few weeks ago too.

Just remember that there are capacitors on the bottom side of this board and very hard to replace without disassembling the majority of your wiring which you better label correctly and make sure you take several closer pictures of each connection on this board.

And the OT is rated at 3.4 K for a 4 Ohm output on this model. and your bias is about 30 -35 mA for two 6CA7's or EL34 according to the older schematic for the twin amp 45 but different from your model which mirrors the input section and to a point of the ES-30 on the reverb section. It doesn't list the reverb requirements so as long as you match it to the requirements of the Reverb tank you purchased.

It should be 10K at 8 Ohms but I can see by your picture it states 8k Ohms at 8 Ohms. Your recitfier tube is a 5AR4 with twin 50uF capacitors.

Rectifier valve was dead. Replaced that and a clean up and it seems to be behaving right now. Pretty easy, shame about the reverb.

I had a bad original Elk spare reverb on hand that the spring tension was gone. Didn't know where to get replacements and how tense the spring had to be in-order to check, or rebuild it.

I've never seen another Elk over here, dunno if they were imported to the UK much. Plenty of our own things going on I guess.

Have you looked at the Dr Tube website. He has the import information concerning Europe. AFter the original factory burned down, the new factory moved out of the residental neighborhood, to a larger area and started back up. Since this German company had a deal selling microphones in japan, Miyuki Elk had the connections to distribute in Europe and Canada. The later models all have serial numbers where as the earlier models did not have a plate attached with the stamped serial numbers. There were quite a few in Amsterdam.

Look under the Library section for all of the schematic info from the majority of manufacturers who have produced amplifiers.

Well, I did it again, bought something off of Ebay. It was a "Royal Challenger" by Royal aka Miyuki, as stated by the: Elk Schematics

              Quote:
Miyuki also used the Luxor and Royal brand names for some of their amps in Europe (and maybe else where). I've also seen "Aria by Elk" logos.

This should finish my total collection of these Tube Amplifier from Japan. I'll post some pictures after it arrives.
