It is a BC109..are there any crossover parts for it?

If you have to order it specially, go ahead and buy the same, cost is peanuts.
But the modern version is BC549, in case that old one disappears, and in fact, any small (TO92) NPN transistor will work there.
Just check pinout and if needed twist legs slightly to match.
So maybe you already have something in your parts bin.Juan Manuel Fahey

BC109 pinout.pdf
Just make sure that it is installed correctly.
There is a tab on the BC109 transistor case which indicates the base lead.
Edit: the emitter is tabbed
Sometimes there will be a silkscreened marking on the PCboard itself.
You never did specify which transistor (schematic wise) you snapped off.
And which transistor you tried to sub.
The pinouts where most probably not the same.
As JM F stated, any 25 volt transistor should work. (assuming that the correct lead configuration is observed.)
Look up the datasheet for any substitution part before throwing it at a circuit.Last edited by Jazz P Bass; 02-01-2015, 05:56 PM.

Sorry but the tab shows the emitter.

So recheck it.
And please which transistor in the schematic did you replace.
And why, what made you suspect it (besides broken legs when you touched it) .Juan Manuel Fahey
