I Have A Early Eighties Fender Super Champ Deluxe In A Oak Wood Cabinet (one Of 100 Made I'm Told). Can You Guy's Tell Me If I Change Out The 6v6gt Tubes, Does The Amp Need To Be Biased???? Or Not?? I Know Old Mesa Boogie Amps Don't Require Biasing.....i'm Hoping The Super Champ Doesn't Need It Either. Sure Would Make Switching Tubes Out Easier.......can Someone Tell Me???? Thanks!!!

Is Bias Needed For A Super Champ???

All fixed bias amps require biasing. A Cathode biased amp is a little more tolerant... Some amps don't have a means for adjusting the bias. This doesn't mean they don't need to be biased correctly, it just means the factory didn't give you, meaning the qualified technician, the means to do so easily. You can either select resistors to bring the bias into spec., or you can add a trim pot to the bias supply to make future adjustments easier. Since you have to ask the question in the first place I am going to assume you are not really qualified to do the work yourself. Seek a good tech in your area to do the job.
