  • Silvertone 1448 safety?

    Hi,

I just picked up an old Silvertone 1448 guitar and amp-in-case. The amp power transformerless and has a .05uF cap paralleled with a 68k resistor connected from the switch to ground.

I will be using this amp at home and the odd coffee shop gig. What should I do for safety so I don't get shocked?

    Three-prong cord?
    Replace cap with Y-rated cap?
    Polarized two-prong cord?
    Isolation transformer?

    Thanks,
    Alex

Has anyone here installed an isolation transformer in one of these? What transformer did you use and where did you mount it?

The Triad N68X looks like it would work but it won't fit inside the chassis. The heater transformer just fits with a height of 1-3/8".
