  • 65 Ampeg SB-12 Baffle Mounting

Got a 65 Ampeg SB-12 here. The baffle is held in by a single screw. (There should be eight of them from the look of it). The baffle has been sealed to the outer cabinet by the innovative use of strips of corduroy.

My question is. Would the baffle originally have been sealed to the outer cabinet (by means of foam strips or whatever) or would it have been mounted on spacers (like a 65 - 67 B15)?

The baffle on a '65 SB-12 is different from that of a B-15, and a lot simpler. The speaker is rear-mounted with four speaker nails, and the baffle is screwed to the cabinet, around all four edges on the inside. On mine, the baffle is not sealed to the cabinet. There are no spacers. The screws originally used to secure the cabinet were of the clutch-head variety, requiring a special tool.
