  • 1966 Gibson GA15-RVT chassis removal problem

Allright there must be a few Gibson experts out there. I am on my sixth Gibson amp, but the first of this sort. I have an immense issue.

How do you get the chassis out of the cabinet?

The back panels are not removable, the speaker baffle won't come out with the chassis in, and the chassis with the PT won't squeeze out the largest back opening. I refuse to remove the PT to get a chassis out.
I figure it must come out and I am missing something obvious, but what. Although this has been recapped at some time in the not too distant past, I would like to be able to get in there as I need to add a three prong plug.

I will post some pics if anyone thinks that will help.

Another mystery solved. While cleaning the tolex, which was unbelievably fithy, I found four screw holes filled with black gunk on the sides. The back panel was glued in when somebody lost the screws??? I pried it off without hurting anything, cleaned out the holes and replaced the screws. I am now ready to roll, I think.
