  • epiphone ea-12 rvt futura amplifier

Hi i have a uncommon epiphone ea-12 rvt model futura amplifier that i got from my cousin it was my grandfathers which he bought it brand new but now it will not power up all of the tubes are it good shape and the fuse is brand new is there anyway that it could just be a problem with the cord because it has no groud and shocks you when you plug it in if you touch the wire sticking out.

And if you have any information on the amplifier could you please let me know, and if you were wondering the gibson model is a ga-30 rvt invader

Exactly what wire is "sticking out" & from where?
Some of these amps had neon lamps in the switch circuit.
If any have failed open, the amp will not operate.

No disrespect intended, but if you have to ask a question like this you should probably take it to a shop. You could really hurt yourself.

none taken but anywhere i have gone no one seems to know how to fix it and half of them don't even know what it is i have even come to find that this amp is different than any year i could find so i have reason to believe it is one the rare years like 63 or 65 as i have heard. the wire that is sticking out is the ground wire on the plug were on a modern plug there would be a third prong that is were it is at

Just an FYI, cgates56, at some point Gibson dumped the amp in your EA-12RVT schematic and went to the chassis/layout/circuit of the Gibson GA-30RVT, which is quite different. There are probably other variations as well. Gotta love Gibson. They changed circuits like other people change their underwear! If an EA-15RVT doesn't have a rectifier tube, it is likely the GA-30 schem.
