  • Resurrected Orange OR80

I wish I had the before photos for this one. It was a badly treated 1972 Orange OR80 head in for a complete restoration. Greasy dirty inside and out, busted power switch, frayed power cord, sounded awful, insects and webs inside it, just beat.

I replaced the original electrolytics, EL 34s and pre tubes, power switch and AC plug, both screen grid resistors (one was open), HF Punch pot, put in correct value fuses (always surprised at how many amps I see with wrong values), cleaned all the controls and jacks, re-tensioned and cleaned the tube sockets, scrubbed the heck out of the cabinet and chassis, glued down some tolex tears and biased it up.

This thing barks like an angry dog! Everything now functional as new, I know this will be a happy owner. Since I don't see many of these, I thought I'd post a few shots of this beast. And it's got some serious iron in it, too!
