  • Fender Twin master volume pot

    Hi,
I am working on a Fender Twin Reverb(silver face) and I have not been able (so far) to find a replacement for the master volume pot/push-pull DPST switch. Any idea of a supplier selling this?Preferably in Europe
    Cheers
    Mauri

They are hard to get hold of... not much room under that slant faceplate, and the actual type is I think no longer made. However it is possible to take out the overdrive circuit altogether. Are you sure you want it - it sounds horrible! Here's one in Germany anyhow:

yes, it doesn't sound good at all. but the amp is not mine so I'll have to ask permission to the owner before removing it. Thanks for the link!

Antique Electronic Supply has several pots that would work. You'll have to poke around the site a bit. Check closeouts, too. A fairly useful mod for the MV Twins is to dump the useless boost function, and move the master volume post phase-inverter.

I wouldn't mind a few hints if somebody knows how to remove the master volume section

You can find these pots at Watford Valves in the UK

I've bought one and can confirm it's the exact same as the original. A friend has this amp and loves the pull boost. When the switch disintegrated I couldn't convince him he would be better without it.
Weber has pull switch pots but these are too big and don't fit into the fender chassis.
To remove the master vol just turn it up to 10 - voila, it's out of the circuit.
Sorry if this info is too late for that job.

I also wanted to move the MV post phase inverter, what would the wiring be? Also if you wanted to take it out, how would you solder the jumper? does there need to be a resistor in place of the MV pot?
