Those have been produced for some time. Yes, they work well. There are several uses for them. Be aware that they come in set impedance, not switchable or adjustable, so you have to match them up with the intended amp.
They work well, but like all attenuators, get a little weird sounding when dropping an amp down to "late night apartment" listening levels. IIRC there's a version made as an OEM with a different brand that has switchable impedance.
