  • Fenser rumble bass amp problem?

I have a Fender Rumble bass amp that just stopped working. I have power but no sound. Any suggestions what to check here. It's solid state so I'm not sure what to check.

    Chuck.

Oh, I changed out the speaker for a new one but still nothing. All the connections for the input seem ok.???

Fender Rumble 60 or the 100?
Both of these amps are a bit complicated.
Are you qualified to work on solid state equipment?
What test equipment do you have?

It's a rumble 100. Am I qualified, not really but I have built about a dozen tube amps. But they we're all ptp wiring and I used schematics for them.I have a Fluke meter, that's about it for test equiptment. Just thought I'd give it a look at with some guidance.

          Good enough for me.
          Let's narrow down the fault.
          Here is the schematic.
#1: Pull the chassis. It is a solid state amp: leave the speakers disconnected.
#2: Turn on the amp & check the 15" speaker wires for dc voltage. Should be none (maybe a few millivolts)
If Vdc is present, the output section is compromised.
#3: No Vdc on output, run the preamp out to another amp.
If that works, then the output section is at fault.
If not, then the preamp is faulty.
Then we take it from there.

Ok, I'll check that much out and let you know what happens. It's late here now so I'll let you know tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

            Chuck.

This should be a sticky at the top of the forum.

I would add to that sticky to check all of the power supply voltages.
