  • Roland KC-500 "upgrades"

At the recommendation of a Roland certified tech, I'm replacing the crossover resistor (5w 15ohm) with 5w 18ohm. This is supposed to solve and issue where the horn crackles at high volumes when it's NOT the diaphragm.

I'm just wondering if there are any other "mods" I can do to this amp while I'm in there. (upgrading the DI's so they don't buzz, etc)

I'm expecting a chorus of how Roland amps suck and why bother, so hopefully that will be kept to a minimum.

    Thanks in advance,

    Stewart

What output jack you calling "D.I."?
    From the SM I see a Line Out L & R & a Stereo Link Out.
At any rate, they are both buffered outputs.
    They should not "buzz".

The difference in attenuation will be minuscule, I fail to see what practical effect it might have.

*Maybe*the guy who originally posted so, replaced a 15 ohm one with an 18 ohm one, cured the audible defect and attributed it to that variation.
IŽd rather believe that he either had a defective 15 ohm one or even more probable, some cracked solder or similar "mechanical" problem, which got repaired while replacing.

      Just guessing, of course.
