Hi guys, this is my first post here and hope someone could help me with this
I have an XR560 and as far as I know you can take an output from the monitor out to another amp.
If I do this do I need a pair of speakers connected to the XR560 or can I just have speakers on the Amp?
    Thanks

You can take the output from the monitor, out to another amp?
What output? be specific. Yes you can take the monitor line out (not speaker out!) from the 1/4 inch jack, and connect it to another power amp. DO NOT connect the speaker output to anything but a speaker.
No, it does not need speakers hooked up to do this. A solid state amp can run without a speaker load.
Yes you can use it as a mixer only, with no speakers connected. Then use an external power amp instead.

I only have one pair of speakers so if I need more power I can just run an amp from the monitor out.
      Thanks for the speedy reply.

Yes you can do that. You are welcome to ask any question about pro sound and the forum probably has the answer.

On the front are a couple of jacks, MONITOR OUT and MAIN OUT. Those are line level outputs and will feed a powr amp if desired.

What exactly do you want to do? The monitor out is going to be whatever mix you create with the monitor controls. In other words each of your six chanels has a monitor level control, and upper right corner of the panel has the monitor master. THAT is what will come out the monitor out jack. That will be a separate thing from the main mix.

If you want your external power amp to be your main mix, then use the MAIN out jack intead of MONITOR out. The signal coming from that MAIN jack is the same signal that gets sent to the internal power amps. SO if your intent is to use a external power amp to do the job that the internal power amp would do otherwise, use the MAIN jack, not the monitor jack. That front panel MAIN jack is still just a line level, it is NOT where speakers can be conected. All speaker conections are on the rear.

Yes, you can operate this mixer with no speakers connected to it.

The monitor mix is used to create a special mix just for stage monitors. In other words you might have three vocals and a couple drum mics as your mian mix, but in the monitors, you might leave the drums out and just have vocals. SO you would turn the monitor send on the three vocal channels up and leave the monitor sed on the drum channels at zero. But the main mix would continue to include the drums.
