I remember my first U2 concert!! December 20th 1987 I was only 9 years old but was blown away by seeing BB King and this great band U2!! I did not know that they had started the Joshua Tree tour in Tempe and ended tour on Dec. 20, 1987. This tour would evolve into the Rattle and Hum album/movie. Funny how they were practicing for the tour right in Tempe, AZ just five miles from my house at that time. I was a huge fan! The ticker of that concert was that it was being filmed and to ensure that it sold out, tickets were as low as $5. I saw them for $5!! Not many will ever see a great band for just $5 but that was then and this is now.

So I have to ask JJTj what was you affiliation to the band? You have some interesting story here to tell I am sure and no you have not bored us at all w/ the porn! lol!

Edit: As Bono said on that tour "Am I buggin' ya?? Don't me to bug ya!! Okay Edge play the Blues!"
When the going gets weird... The weird turn pro!

GOD, I can't believe all this paper I still have, from decades
of saving. Anyway, to answer your ?? Inflate ya shoes..

At that time, 'VOX' in the US was pre-Korg, the last dist
was Pr1mo (not a typo) in Marlboro Ma, about 20 miles
away from me. It was the time of the 'Venue' series,
etc, and the AC30 made by Custom Sound in the UK.

Vox/R-M hired me to work with Pr1mo...

Pr1mo also imported Track drums, Washburn, and Riverhead
guitars. Nice people, who were W-A-Y over their heads in
this field, and ended up trying to flock every employee and
dealer they were involved in. I beat them in court, yet hold
no ill, as they were trying to stay afloat. God Bless them all.

..anyway.. U2 was on tour, and Vox was (IMMSMW) still
owned by Rose-Morris. Pr1mo was out of the picture, and
the Edge's ripped cloth AC30 was dead..screen resistors,
a simple thing, one would think their tech could do, yet he
demanded a real VOX rep do the job. Rose Morris called me
and begged me to go. Sheit, what's a guy to do. I was on my
way to leaving EAW at the time as their senior tech, only
because I wanted to spend more time with amps then just
re-cone'g speakers. I will say, EAW was and is a class act,
and I learned so much there it scares me. Think of level
of legend like Kenton F, whom I worked day and often night
with..I just wish I remembered 1/10000 of what he told me.

So I quit that job to go to the Boston Garden and fix da amp.

Stopped at home, got a handfill of what I needed to do whatever
I thought might be needed and fixed the amp. Man what a hunk
of AC30 crap, the chassis was balanced with a paper clip, copper
from the UK, in-dented in the cab, and I was told by Sir Edge that
in "NO way" to change it. 4 resistors later, he's one happy guy.

Paid me out of his own pocket, 3 c notes, and a 10 pound bill,
which he signed and I hope to find in all this mess somewhere.

Bono (a much smaller guy then ya'd think) watched all the time
and as I was packing up, asked for my card and thanked me.

Next thing I know, I get a call, I need to go to NJ. All is well,
yet they want to make sure it stays well. I borrow my g/dad's
old ford, with real bad brakes. And I go there. At the call window
are 4 tickets and passes. I bench the thing (no stars around), all
is fine, handed $400. I'm one happy camper. Yet I didn't want to stay.

Now back then, in ER/NJ, there was a seperate area where one could
scalp tickets. No sheit. So I go there trying to sell the tickets. I
dump them for $20 a ticket, as the show was sold out, and it PISSED
OFF those trying to get $$$$$$. Then I figured I'd try to give away
the extra passes I had. NO ONE believed they were real. Oh yeah,
at 1st I tried to sell them..then it was getting late, so I thought I'd
find the saddest girl, and give one to each. NONE believed they
were real. So, at the back gate, after me going in & out many many
times, I just found one damn pretty girl who had no ticket, pasted a
pass on her chest, and pushed her thru the door. Wonder where
she is now? Hope she enjoyed that night and stayed out of trouble.

Sure is better, I just need to spend more time here. AGA has
become a cluster-flock of politics. At least here, it's gear.
