  • new here, would like some help with some power amps

Hello! im new to this site. A buddy referred me here from the ampgarage. The other day i was given two broken samson servo 200's and a fender dual 400 bass amp. All three are broken. I have never messed with power amps before but id like to see if i can fix them. I have dont have any pa equipent, only some guitar amps ive built. If i cant fix them i just plan on using them as parts.
Any and all advice will be very much appreciated.
    Thanks everybody.

    Welcome to the place.

I'd suggest that as a starting point search the interwebs to find a schematic for the dead amps. Having something to refer to will make your life so much easier. If you post them here, it will also make helping you a lot easier as well.

Power amps are no different than any other amp, just made to serve a different purpose than a guitar amp. Do you have a light bulb limiter? If not you might want to build one now that you are starting to troubleshoot amplifiers.

      Agree with 52 Bill.

I'll add: After you have a DVM, light bulb limiter, and schematics in hand, I would start separate threads for each amp as each will have it's own set of problems.

I would recommend fixing the Fender first. It is more serviceable and parts will be easier to get. Also, the Samsons are just power amps, the 400 is a bass amp with preamp and 2 power amps, so it will be more versatile for you to use.
The schematic/service manual for the Fender is available here: http://music-electronics-forum.com/a...l-bass-400.pdf
Once you have a better idea about solid-state servicing you can move on to the samsons.
