  • vocal amp problem..

I currently have a behringer K1800Fx amp that my parents got me for christmas to be used as a vocal amplifier for myself in my band. It works fine, but now we have another singer, and there's only one input intended for mics, everything else is 1/4" plug-ins and by plugging a mic directly into one it doesn't provide enough volume.

Is there anything I can buy at a price (low enough that I wouldn't rather buy a new PA system intended for vocals) that would provide more volume to our 2nd singer? Thanks!

By the way, here's a link to the amp on musicians friend, it's got all the specs..

You might consider a small mixer or mic preamp for the extra microphone. It would plug into an unused 1/4" jack line input.

They come in very basic, and move on up the food chain adding channels and features - as well as dollars.

For example also from Musicians Friend:
This little behringer UB502 is $30 and would work for one mic.

or the UB1002 for $50 and would work for 2 mics

Both these, and most, little mixers also add a couple other mix in potentials.

Here's a nice little Peavey PV6 with 4 mic input channels for $90.

A small outboard mixer like one of these would plug into one spare input channel on your PA amp and you could then mix several together. In fact with something like the four input model, yuo could run all your mics through the little outboard mixer in stead of one through it and one through the existing mic input. Then they would all be controlled from the same place.

Other mixer brands also make small auxilliary mixers.

Alternatively, if you want to stick to just adding one mic into a spare channel, a small mic preamp might work. For your purposes, I think I'd prefer the extra flexibility if the little mixer, but a mic pre can be cool.

The ART Tube MP is $30 and would add one mic input for you

Also the Behringer MIC100 for $40.
    and others.
