  • Sony SA-WX700 missing +12v

On page 6 Coordinate (F,11) there is Q805 reading -0.675 volts on the Emitter, +2.5mv on the Collector and +87mv on the Base.
When I disconnect CN803 and CN807, Q805 reads as it should on all pins.
If I connect either one, 803 or 807, by itself, I get close to what I get with both connected.

Is it possible Q805 is failing under a load? All the other voltages, on those 2 connectors, read good.

At first, I thought maybe it's related to the ICE250a pulling it down, but both that board and the filter board are doing it.
By the way, Q805 is not what is on the schematic, it's a ktc2026 in the actual unit.

Check the resistance rating R830. It could burn and increase the denomination. Also check D810, D836 & C819, C860.

I had to take the board out to get to a couple components. This has had work before. D810 has a spot on top, but was wired, not through hole, on the bottom. D836 and C860 are also on the bottom, but looks like they were intended to be there. TONS of epoxy.
Anyway, I found C860 to be overload on the ESR meter. R830 was a little black too and reading 2 ohms. Diodes are black too, but test good. I'll replace all the burnt looking parts.

Looks like many people had the same components go bad on this sub. Also, not sure why the service manual says that R830 is a fusible resistor? Parts list on Page 14. Is that an error?

Thanks for the help! If I would have pulled the board to pull Q805 I would have definitely seen the burnt parts.

Got the parts in and it fired up. Thanks for the info!

I really like the way they laid out the service manual.
