Soft/Med/Hard Duet...

I am looking to buy some Tungsol tubes and see where I need to choose between soft/med/hard duet... I am not trying to get the amp to break up too early and I mainly play clean with a little drive at times. Should I go with the soft or med and push the OD a bit with a pedal?

I think I would suggest a soft or medium (higher tube rating numbers) tube for the outputs.

Unless you are running the amp at or above full rated output power, the distortion will be produced in the preamp tubes.

The better clean tones will require more linearity from all the tubes.
