For goodness sakes if you're building it go loctal. It's almost identical looking to a "normal" 6v6 socket, and probably uses the same sized hole. If you ever tire of using the loctal output tubes, you can easily put an octal socket in with little work. Loctal's sturdier though, and all of the samples come from a fine time in the tube industry...they weren't around that long, but a lot were made. You can find them here: http://www.tubesandmore.com/ (search for 7c5) for what works out I think to about 3,4 pounds each given our failing US economy and the wonders of global exchange. The socket is even less (search for loctal socket), around 1 pound. Probably makes up for shipping. Good luck.
