  • Nuvistors - what do you think?

Anyone have an opinion on Nuvistors for preamp triodes? I have a few 7586 and 7895 tubes. Is there a practical application for a guitar amp, or would I be better off selling them and sticking with conventional dual triode tubes?

If you check some of the tube stuff they are playing with at diystompboxes.com (link lower down on main MEF page) you'll see that lots of people are using twin triodes and submini tubes for effects pedals. The same sort of circuitry could be added "in-amp" as a preamp or switchable effect. Ask a few questions over there. At the very least there would probably be a line-up of people willing to take them off your hands.
