Yes, he does. I've seen a pair of them go for $1200 one and a half years ago (albeit with Telefunken stamp).

And yes, there are people out there with more money than brains

      Cheers,

I find it delightful that these here $1200 tubes will be shipped in the care of the postal service. Slap a stamp on the box and mail them off...

I picked up a pair of Telefunkens a couple of years ago at a flea market for $100.They sound good, but I am still kicking myself for paying that much just to satisfy my curiosity. They dont sound any better than any other NOS I have.I cant imagine why anybody would even consider paying that much for any tube.I guess that guy was right who said "Theres a sucker born every minute".

I bought an old Bell PA several years ago that has been sitting in my basement ever since. Just before Christmas I opened it up to get an idea what I might do with it and found 5 Telefunkens. Sure they're not brand new but they sound awesome and the whole PA only cost me $50.00.

I'll tell you what though, I don't think they sound so good as to justify a $1k price tag, even if they were NOS.

For that price they'd have to come with breasts.

There sure is one born every minute. (I wonder if this thread helped to advertise the auction?!)

I swear by the original production tubes. Over the years I've managed to salvage a lot of tube equipment from the scrap at places where I've worked, and recycle it into guitar amps. Sure, the tubes I get are used, but the vast majority of them seem to be still good, and they've gone on to give years more service for me after I've trash-picked them.

I can afford to buy parts, but I find it much more enjoyable this way, you never know what surprise is going to come next. I got two Telefunken 12AX7s a couple of months back, and yes, they do sound nice

"Enzo, I see that you replied parasitic oscillations. Is that a hypothesis? Or is that your amazing metal band I should check out?"

I find a lot of my dates the same way. I go down the alleys looking in dumpsters. Auction prices are just too high these days. Sure the ones I find are used, but they go on to give good service...

Sorry, got carried away, don't know WHAT I was thinking...

                            Enzo gets the win

Notice how they look very much like an old 6DJ8 inside?

Well, I hope the person who bought them does not compromise their tonal qualities by using inferior AC and signal cables in his setup.

I'd suggest he order from the following fine cable supplier:
