Ok I have suffered from the same problem for a while and just very recently fixed it for 130 bucks. Simply get the MXR Custom Audio Electronics Boost/ overdrive (Model MC-402) and problem solved.
I don't know if we are all answering a useless question since the original poster hasn't replied but, don't go by the reviews of this pedal. As long as you have a good amp this pedal is fantastic. I use it through my Vox AC30CC2 with great results. Use the boost to drive it harder(the clean boost is amazingly quiet without effecting your original tone) and if you need more gain use the overdrive.
I have also used this with my B-52AT-100 head (which is a $700 100 watt all tube head that IMO beats any Marshall or Mesa) and had great results also. But I also used it with a friend Fender Frontman and the overdrive sounded harsh and bad. So if you have a good tube amp this pedal is a lifesaver and will not take away your bottom end.
Peace and Great tone to all, Rob

It seems that the design of pedal I need is like a Sparkle Drive or a Moller to get what I want. Except the SD has a mid hump. The Moller is not true bypass. Sigh....
Look into the Effects Pedal Boutique SR808 Plus. Amazing pedal...ultimate tone and versatility. They're available on eBay.

It consists of level, tone and gain, but has two toggles. One is a fat boost on/off...the other sets one of the 3 modes of the pedal...1)Assymetrical clipping for a Marshall type tone, 2)Clean boost or Dumble like OD at higher gain and 3)TS808 clone but with better definition and bottom end.

They make a single, double and triple and offer different chip choices. They are custom made to order and very reasonably priced.

I have the 2 in 1...can't be beat for tone, quality and value.

        Hi,
Interesting, but can't find any info on it, and not on Ebay.
