  • Combining MXR microamp and distortion+

    Hi!

I have been using MXR Microamp and it has been almost perfect for my needs, but I'm in a lack of a bit of extra distortion as I boost my leads. I know that i could have another dist pedal, but as Microamp schematic is really close to distortion+ / DOD250 schematic, I thought that I might try to build a clone and include a bit of distortion in the Microamp stompbox.

Schematics of Microamp and Dist+ can be found here:
    http://www.tonepad.com/getFile.asp?id=6
(it's a PDF with both schematics)

I'm fairly new with effects building/modding and I'd like to get some help on how to combine the distortion feature to Microamp. I don't want to use extra switches but I'd like to have two pots; distortion and "non colororizing" boosting volume control as in Microamp. It would be perfect if I could get the effect work purely as Microamp if the distrotion is dialed to zero.

Would it be as simple as adding the clipping section from dist+? I dont need a lot of distortion/overdrive so would this be enough to achieve something like this?

All the recommendations are very welcome.

    Thanks a lot in advance!
