  • Boss Me-30

I have a boss Me-30 was running great until recently, plugged it in last night and I'm only getting a lil sound on it when I use the distortion. I thought My Jacks were messed up so a re-soldered all them and it wasnt the problem. I dont get any sound on bypass or any other effect without using the Odrive/Distortion. Im very new to electronics repair and am looking for some guidance. Please help, I dont wanna have to send this to the trash can. Cheers

The ME-30 is a digital effect and is going to have a ton of chips/processors. This wouldn't be a beginners project by any means. Pretty much just check for loose wires or something obvious and hope it's a loose wire.

I don't know if Boss or a authorized service center will/can fix it.

Try doing a system reset. The op manual should tell you how to do that. You can also go to Bossus.com and search for the ME-30. There should be info there as well.

I have the same effects unit. You can reset the unit as follows:

        1. With the power off press and hold the right "Parameter Button" and the down "Value button"
        2. Turn the unit on while still holding the buttons.
        3. Preset will appear on the display
        4. Press the "write/copy" button.

That should take care of the reset.

Also, make sure that you just don't have the volume pedal all the way down. This will sometimes produce the same issue you are having. You can try disabling the volume pedal all together to see if there is a mechanical problem with the pedal.

I attached the users manual in case you need one.
