  • DL4 Power Supply Works/Batteries Don't ?

My Line6 DL4 will only turn on with the external Power Supply. I insert good batteries and nothing.

The battery voltage is making it as far as MAX887 V+ but it only puts out the requisite 3,3 volts when the wall wart is plugged in. The D11,D12,D16 diodes all seem ok...

This is at about the limit of my electronics knowledge but I'm a good solderer so if I need to replace MAX887 I could probably get the job done. The logic seems to me that MAX887 is okay but something before it that has to do with the way the battery voltage gets there has failed.

    Any ideas?

I am totally not familiar with that unit, but how about the negative end of the battery? Is there continuity to ground or wherever it goes?

Most pedals use the input jack to complete the battery circuit. Does this?

Does the power adaptor jack have a battery cutout contact? If so, is it working?
Education is what you're left with after you have forgotten what you have learned.

Battery Cutout was it - pried the spring up and away inside the power inlet with a tiny flat blade screwdriver. Batteries work again!!!
Thanks so much for your timely and helpful response, Enzo!
