  • Stompbox power supplies

Getting tiring and expensive replacing batteries for my 4 pedals I use. My Boss Delay, especially, munches those things like a kid munches candy.

Wondering about reliability, noise or any good or bad opinions/experiences with Godlyke supply:
Buy Godlyke Power-All PA-9B 9V Digital Power Supply Basic Kit | Guitar & Bass Effects Power Supplies | Power Supplies | Musician's Friend

or, Visual Sound supply: Buy Visual Sound 1 SPOT Combo Pack | Guitar & Bass Effects Power Supplies | Power Supplies | Musician's Friend

I use an old Maestro MP Phaser (the Barbie treadmill looking one with the Balls and Speed knobs...makes a great fake 'vibrato' or faux 'Leslie' sound, with speed controlled by foot. Actually, it's a good chorus, also...just not much of a 'phaser'). Also, an old Dunlop Wah (without the 9-volt receptacle), an Ibanez TS9, and a Boss DD3. The Boss lasts about 2 four-hour practices before dying, even with it only being used for about 10 tunes. (Yeah, I know it still drains just being plugged in. Getting tired of buying batteries for that one, especially).

Anyway, I need the battery-clips for the Maestro and Wah, and the normal plugs for the TS9 and Boss.

Any comments on those two supplies, better, worse, whatever? I know there are more expensive ones, but unemployment is keeping me frugal for now. $30-40 sounds better than $140, and the battery savings will add up more quickly.

    Thanks,

    Brad1

Brad, have you seen the Weber power supply kit? Kit comes with multi output xformer, and 4 circuit boards, each with voltage regulation, and adjustment for about $30. Course you still need to make patch cables, and put a jack on your wah, but you can adjust voltage for each pedal.

      Bill,

Can find no info on his page about that. You got a link?

      Thanks,

All the supplies listed are fine, with more than enough current to support a big pedal-board. The sole caveats would be that a) digital pedals consume a lot more current than analog ones and more and more pedals are going digital, b) many players find that even very good supplies like those listed run into noise issues when attempting to power more than one digital pedal at a time.

Thanks guys. I think I'll go with one of the two I linked. The Weber one looks OK, except I'll need a box, cables and plugs to add to it. Might as well just buy a completed product for now.

Anyway, out of the 50-odd effects I have, all are analog except for two digital delays, and I only connect one of those at any time to 3, possibly 4, other pedals....so I should be OK. What I MAY consider next after getting the power thing is building a bypass switcher to engage any of the ones I want. Nothing fancy...these things most often get connected played in the same order, anyway (Wah, dist, Maestro Phaser, delay).

            Thanks,

            Brad1
