  • OC 44 pinout anyone?

Does anyone have access to a pinout for an OC 44 PNP Germanium transistor? I sure would appreciate it. Also please specify if you are looking at the bottom or the top of the transistor when reading the pinout. Thanks

    Hi,
there's ( or there should be ) a small red dot on one side at the bottom of the case. This red dot indicates the collector, the base is the center pin.
( I'm sure you' ll figure out the emitter's location by yourself ).

    Hope this helps

    Best regards

It pays to have a DMM with a transistor-testing function. If you ever find yourself with a tranny and no pinout for it, pop it in and test for hfe, trying out different pin orientations. Eventually you'll get a sensible reading (generally something above 60 or so) that will let you know if it's NPN or PNP and which pin is which.

Just as a footnote to Mark's post, that test is OK for determining the pinout only. Don't trust the "hfe" or "gain" reading, because it will be more or less exaggerated, due to the Germanium BJTs being leaky devices ( a certain Ice current flows regardless of the base being not biased, adding this "leakage" current to the gain reading, thus "spoiling" it ).

        Hope this helps

        Cheers
