  • Dark switch mod for 80's Ibanez delay? DDL 20, DML, (TS-10 series)

I love these delays. The best most transparent buffer I've ever heard regardless of price..... hence... My favorite delays. Can I put a cap across the volume or repeat pot like a Boss DD-2, DD-3 etc?

It's a wee bit bright, Id love a tone knob, but a switch would be cool.

The boss dd-2 has an awesome full frequency yet warm repeat, but the buffer blows with single coils into el 84 amps IMO.

    THANKS!!!!

I don't have a schematic for that Ibanez delay specifically, but I do have one for the DL5. It would seem that all the support circuitry is indeed in the analog domain, which means that a cap across the volume pot would do what is desired...for that pedal. Looking at the outside of it, it would seem to be from that generation of pedals where the same arrangement would be true. If, in popping the lid on yours, you see lots of 8-pin op-amps besides a 24-40 pin behemoth, then you're likely good to go, and need only look for the relevant pads for that pot.

      Wow, Thanks!!!
I'm not much of an analog delay guy, I prefer tape...

I want a nice full frequency repeat with a little tiny bit of top end attenuated.

The ddl 20 is already 92% of the way there!

Any suggestions for a value of cap to barely cut just the very highest audible frequencies?

I'll take a shot in the dark - and I mean pitch black dark - and say .01uf for starters.

I did more research and went with a .1

It BARELY changed anything... The repeats used to be a tad brighter than the original signal, now they are a tiny hair darker....

          MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!!! THANX MARK!!!!!!!

          I'm loving it!!!!!!!
